Selected projects

The level we operate at.

We keep most client work confidential, so these projects are described without names. They show the kind of work we take on — complex equipment, complete process systems and specialist engineering where understanding the interfaces matters as much as designing the individual parts.

Pharmaceutical

Cleanroom transfer system

Challenge

Design and integrate a transfer system for a regulated cleanroom environment, retrofitted into a live, heavily space-constrained facility.

What made it hard

Heavy legacy constraints, no room to spare for equipment that still had to be serviceable, and no chance to iterate once in service.

Our approach

Multi-disciplinary design from concept, CFD through the design phase, and a full 3D scan at the first opportunity — with contingency built in for the highest-risk parts.

Outcome

A complete solution designed around a space that initially appeared unworkable — with fit, access and system interfaces resolved before equipment reached site.

Food & process manufacturing

Complete production & process systems

Challenge

Design new production equipment and process areas within existing manufacturing environments — from individual process improvements through to complete new production systems.

What made it hard

The machine is only one part of the problem. Processing equipment, vessels, pipework, utilities, access, hygiene, controls, chemical compatibility and installation all have to work together — often within an existing factory that needs to remain operational.

Our approach

Integrated proven off-the-shelf components for predictability, validated the design with analysis before build, and prototyped high-risk elements early.

Outcome

Production systems designed around the real process and facility — with equipment, utilities, access and controls considered together at concept stage.

Engineering software

Engineering calculator modernisation

Challenge

An engineering OEM relied on an established Excel-based calculator containing complex engineering calculations, but needed a dedicated application that was easier to use, maintain and develop.

What made it hard

Rewriting an engineering calculator isn't simply a software exercise. The underlying physics and existing calculation methodology, dependencies and engineering assumptions first have to be understood so that functionality can be reproduced and developed without losing the engineering behind it.

Our approach

We translated the existing calculation workflow into a dedicated C# application of more than 10,000 lines of code, combining software development with engineering review of the underlying methodology. The new architecture also creates a better foundation for validation, future functionality and continued development than the original spreadsheet-based tool.

Outcome

A purpose-built engineering application that retains and revalidates the established calculation methodology from first principles, while providing a more usable and maintainable platform for future development.

The team's historic clients

Where the team has worked.

Across their careers, our engineers have delivered for some of the most demanding names in industry.

These are organisations our team has worked with across their wider careers and are not necessarily direct CRGI contracts.
