Mechanical-led engineering, integrated from day one.
Mechanical design sits at the core of CRGI, supported by in-house capability across process, electrical, controls, automation and software. That means the whole system can be considered from the first question — before disciplines, interfaces and constraints become expensive changes later.
We take projects from concept and feasibility through detailed design, manufacture, installation and commissioning, scaling the team with long-standing specialist partners where additional delivery resource is needed.
Built around the whole system.
Where we do our best work.
Bespoke equipment & process systems
- From individual machines to complete production and process areas
- Mechanical-led design with process, electrical and automation considered from concept
- Through detailed design, manufacture, installation and commissioning
Retrofit & brownfield engineering
- New equipment and systems integrated into existing, constrained facilities
- Existing plant, services and legacy constraints designed around from the outset
- 3D-scanned first, so what fits on screen fits on the floor
Feasibility & concept development
- Rapid multi-disciplinary concepts without assembling a large project team
- Path selection supported by engineering calculation, FEA, CFD and 3D survey
- Key interfaces, risks and constraints identified before commitment
Proven before
it's built.
Complex projects rarely fail because someone forgot to model a bracket. They fail at interfaces — fit, access, process conditions, services, controls, manufacture or installation.
We use the full survey-and-analysis stack to find those issues on screen, not on site.
Right on time, not just
right first time.
Ask the right questions first
The path chosen at day zero decides whether a project succeeds. We illuminate the options so you can make a fully informed decision — you choose the path, we make sure you can see where each one leads.
Design for more than one outcome
On a bespoke build, "right first time" is a promise no honest firm can keep. So we plan for it not to be — a plan B for the riskiest 10%, a plan C for the riskiest 1%.
Test the hard parts early
Where there are known unknowns, we analyse, prototype and sub-test the highest-risk elements before they can affect the wider project.
The aim isn't to pretend there will never be changes. It's to find them while they're still quick and inexpensive to make.
Questions, answered.
Do you cover more than mechanical design?
Yes. Our team spans mechanical, electrical, process, automation, software and controls, integrated from the concept stage rather than designed in sequence. Specialist input and manufacture are brought in where it makes sense, under our design authority.
Can you design complete production or process systems?
Yes. Our scope can range from an individual machine or process improvement through to complete production areas.
Our experience includes conveyors, processing machinery, mills, extruders, mixing and blending systems, vessels, process pipework, heat exchangers, utilities, compressed air, platforms, material handling and packing equipment — including processes involving demanding chemicals and material-compatibility requirements.
We can coordinate these elements as one integrated plant design rather than a collection of separate equipment packages.
Do you develop engineering software?
Yes. We develop bespoke engineering tools where understanding the underlying engineering is just as important as writing the software.
That includes converting spreadsheet-based calculators and legacy engineering applications into modern software, implementing complex engineering calculations and enhancing existing tools with improved workflows, validation and functionality.
Can you take a project all the way to commissioning?
Yes. We work from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, manufacture, installation and commissioning.
We coordinate trusted specialist and manufacturing partners where required, maintaining the engineering intent and interfaces through the delivery stage.
What design and analysis tools do you use?
SolidWorks is our main package, covering mechanical design, CFD and FEA. Solid Edge, Inventor, CATIA and other parametric 3D packages can also be supported.
Specialist tools such as ANSYS are brought in when needed for more complex CFD and FEA.
We also develop our own engineering calculation and software tools where an off-the-shelf solution isn't appropriate.
How do you handle client IP and data?
We're ISO 27001 certified, with Cyber Essentials alongside it. Your drawings, models and data stay on infrastructure we own and control.
